Richard T Fields’ primary business is the entertainment industry and casino and resort development. Currently, Richard Fields is the Chairman of Coastal Development, which finances and develops resort properties, entertainment venues, and casino gaming facilities.

Richard Fields’ first business ventures were in the entertainment industry, where he was co-owner of Catch a Rising Star Comedy Club in New York City. Catch a Rising Star Comedy Club has been the discovery center for many famous comedians, including Robin Williams, Billy Crystal, Rosie O’Donnell, Jerry Seinfeld, Bill Maher, Richard Belzer, Ray Romano, Jon Lovitz, Chris Rock, Bob Saget and Robert Wuhl. Through Catch a Rising Star, Richard Fields also developed a relationship with Donald Trump, whose wife, Marla Maples, Richard Fields directed before Trump and Maples were married.

Richard Fields came to work closely with Trump, expanding his business ventures from entertainment to gambling when Richard Fields worked with Trump to advertise his New Jersey casino business.

In 1999, Richard Fields struck out on his own to start Coastal Development. Through Coastal Development, Richard Fields managed a deal with the Seminole Indian Tribe to co-develop two Hard Rock Hotel and Casinos, one in Tampa and one in Hollywood. In 2008, Richard Fields renewed his business relationship with Donald Trump when he purchased the Trump Marina Hotel Casino in Atlantic City from Trump Entertainment Resorts .

In 2007, Richard Fields expanded his business portfolio further by becoming the largest shareholder for Sterling Suffolk Downs, the racing track in Massachusetts that was once host to the MassCap, the historic racing event that once saw the likes of famous jockeys like George Woolf and horses such as Top Row, Man o' War, Seabiscuit, Whirlaway, and Cigar. Richard Fields revived the MassCap in 2007, in part by contributing his own funds to the purse winnings in order to attract big name competitors. Richard Fields was recognized for his efforts by The New England Turf Writer’s Association, which awarded Fields the Lou Smith Memorial Award. Sporting a genuine love for horses and thoroughbred racing competitions, Richard Fields hopes to return Suffolk Downs to its former glory by restoring the popularity of the sport and expanding Suffolk Downs into a resort-like entertainment center and casino.
